Chui Region borders Kazakhstan and the region of Issyk Kul, Naryn, Jalalabad, and Talas.

The capital, Bishkek, is the gateway zone of Kyrgyz Republic surrounding Bishkek the starting point for tourist routes to Issyk Kul and Naryn Region in the east and Taras and Jalalabad Region in the west.

Population and ethnic composition of Chui Region

The population of Chui Oblast is 970,000, about 15% of the national total.

The percentage of non-Kyrgyz and non-Russian ethnic groups in Chui Oblast as a whole is 12%, lower than the national average of 20%, but some parts of the region have a diverse ethnic population, including 32% in Issyk-Ata district and 29% in Tokmok city.
