Issyk-Ata & Kegeti

Accommodation in Kegeti & Issyk-Ata:

Kegeti Gorge is only 70 km from Bishkek,  and offers a unique mountain experience. Unlike the typically narrow gorges found in the Kyrgyz Range, Kegeti is known for its wide, open valley, providing a sense of spaciousness and freedom. This makes it a perfect destination for a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you are an avid trail runner looking for challenging ascents, a cyclist eager to explore scenic routes, or a traveler simply seeking peaceful hikes and stunning views, Kegeti delivers. The gorge stretches for 27 km, showcasing a rich variety of landscapes, from lush meadows to rocky slopes and towering peaks. The fresh, crisp mountain air and the panoramic vistas of the surrounding Tien Shan mountains create a truly immersive experience of Kyrgyzstan's natural beauty.

Issyk-Ata gorge:

Issyk-Ata Gorge, situated 77 km from Bishkek at an altitude of 1,775 meters, is renowned for its healing hot springs. These springs attract visitors seeking relief from conditions like arthritis, gynecological issues, and digestive problems. The gorge is widely recognized across Kyrgyzstan, partly due to the mineral water named after it. Surrounded by stunning landscapes of forests and meadows, it's a peaceful retreat for both relaxation and rejuvenation.

Some of the best things to see in Kegeti are:

1. The Kegeti waterfall: a stunning 20-meter waterfall cascades down a cliff. It's especially magical in winter, when ice covers the rock and the water shimmers within. Easy to reach and beautiful year-round, it's a perfect photo spot and a quick glimpse of nature's power.
2. The Kol-Tor lake: The lake was formed by an earthquake and is a landslide-type lake. The water has a beautiful turquoise hue. Mountains all around make it even more stunning. Think tall peaks, forests, and that real "middle of nowhere" feel. The lake sits high up, so it's got that cool, crisp mountain vibe.

Some of the best things to see in Issyk-Ata:

1. Waterfalls – Issyk-Ata Gorge is home to two beautiful waterfalls located five kilometers apart. Hikers should wear special footwear, as the rocks can be slippery.
2. Large Stone with Buddha Image – A notable attraction is a large stone with a 10th-century depiction of Buddha. Locals and visitors come to pray for health, and it’s surrounded by a Tibetan inscription and an eagle symbol.
3. Issyk-Ata River – The river, rich in trout, flows through the gorge. Fishing is prohibited, but the area is known for its stunning natural beauty, with alpine meadows and lush forests.
4. Mount Baty (Botvei) – For the adventurous, a hike to Mount Baty (3,800 meters) offers breathtaking views. Local legend says the treasure of Genghis Khan is hidden within the mountain.
5. Issyk-Ata Sanatorium – One of the oldest in Central Asia, the Issyk-Ata Sanatorium was opened in 1891 and remains a popular spot for relaxation, thanks to the healing properties of the hot springs.
6. Scenic Landscapes – The gorge is surrounded by dense forests and alpine meadows, with local herders bringing their horses and sheep here during the summer months.
