Chunkurchack and Koy Tash

Chunkurchack and Koy Tash

Chunkurchak Gorge, located just 40 kilometers from Bishkek, is a picturesque natural haven, unique in its position along the Kyrgyz Range. Here, within a relatively small area, you can witness a variety of landscapes: from snow-capped peaks to green meadows and coniferous forests. The gorge is a national biosphere reserve, protecting rare species of tulips. One of the main attractions is the Golubiny (Pigeon) Waterfall, and from the Kyzyl-Beles Pass, panoramic views of the Chui Valley and Bishkek open up.
In winter, Chunkurchak attracts ski enthusiasts, thanks to the presence of four ski resorts. In summer, you can relax in kumys sanatoriums, try national dishes and local berries, particularly raspberries, which grow in abundance, and also enjoy a picnic in nature, savouring the fresh mountain air and the beautiful views. The name of the gorge, "Chunkurchack," translates to "hollow," reflecting its terrain. The scenic serpentine road makes the journey to the gorge particularly memorable, offering wonderful views of the nearby mountains and the Chui Valley.

Some of the best things to see in Chunkurchak are:
1. Golubiny Waterfall (Pigeon Waterfall): This is a must-see. The waterfall's beauty and the surrounding environment make it a very memorable place.
2. Scenic Landscapes: Simply taking in the overall beauty of the gorge is an activity in itself. The views of the mountains, forests, and rock formations are stunning.
